WALKING ON HENGISTBURY HEAD

To minimize your impact please do not stray from the designated paths. It is essential not to stray from the paths in order to reduce habitat deterioration, wildlife disturbance and erosion especially as Hengistbury Head’s flaky shales are particularly prone.

Themed trail leaflets are available and these correspond with signposts dotted about which take you exploring the site’s local history, flora and fauna.
The Rangers also have a variety of interesting guided walks throughout the year.

For listings of all upcoming guided walks across the borough click on www.bournemouth.gov.uk

Although the surface and gradient of the many designated paths vary, people of all fitness levels are able to access the whole site. However, due to the area’s inherent topography, only the main tarmac road where the land train runs is practicable for wheelchair users.

To avoid disturbance to wildlife and plants, please keep to the footpaths and obey the signs as this is a Nature Reserve.
