CATERING FACILITIES ON HENGISTBURY HEAD

THE HIKER CAFE - The building near the main car park at Hengistbury Head houses toilets, the Land Train and the newly refurbished Hiker Café, which has a great range of reasonably priced meals, snacks and drinks. A full Breakfast Menu is available every morning until midday. There are also hot and cold sandwiches, baguettes, paninis, salads, ploughman’s as well as burgers and full meals which range from £2.60 to £5.50. There is a comprehensive children’s menu, and an excellent variety of hot and cold drinks. Their hot chocolate with whipped cream, marshmallows and a flake is perfect after a long walk on a cold day!

THE BEACH HOUSE CAFÉ - Just beyond the end of the Land Train trip on Mudeford Sandbank is the Beach House Café – you can tell if it is open when the yellow umbrellas and blue flags can be seen! It is a café and bar during the day serving snacks, lunches and drinks, and becomes a restaurant in the evening.

Next to the Café is a small shop which sells a variety of groceries, newspapers and ice creams for those staying in the beach huts or to visitors to the Sandbank.

PICNICS - Hengistbury Head is an ideal location to bring a picnic in good weather. However it is very important that you pick up every piece of litter and take it all home with you as it can be extremely damaging to the flora and fauna on the Head.

BARBEQUES - Barbeques are not permitted anywhere on Hengistbury Head or on the beach because of the damage they can cause. The whole site is protected with bye-laws and patrolled, so be aware that you could be prosecuted if found using a barbeque.
