HENGISTBURY HEAD WILDLIFE OF THE YEAR

PHOTO COMPETITION

Open to amateurs, this competition is looking for the best and the most creative visions of Hengistbury Head’s wildlife.  The winning photograph and two runners-up in each category will be displayed in Hengistbury Head electronic board at the entrance of the Nature Reserve and published on the Hengistbury Head Supporters’ Group website and newsletter. All winning photographs will be part of an exhibition at the Red House Museum in Christchurch in 2010.

There are four themes:

  • Plants
  • Animal behavior
  • Insects
  • Birds

and four categories:

  • Adults
  • Childrens 15-17
  • Childrens 11-14
  • Childrens 10 and under

The most important criteria for a winning photograph is its originality. The panel of judges will choose the photographs that  leap from the screen,  those where the photographers have worked creatively to capture a different way of showing the drama, beauty or unique behaviour of the subject.
