BEAT

A Nature Conservation Strategy has been prepared by the Bournemouth Environmental Advisory Team (BEAT).

BEAT is a partnership with representatives from the Council's Countryside and Outdoor Education teams, Bournemouth University, Natural England, Dorset Wildlife Trust and independent specialist ecologists.

BEAT carries out environmental monitoring and research of our green spaces and provides habitat management advice.
Although the emphasis to date has been on areas with an identified nature conservation value, it is recognised that there is a considerable land area within the Borough that has potential to contribute to the overall biodiversity.

With the above in mind, the Nature Conservation Strategy provides an advisory framework of objectives that will enable the Council to:

•protect and enhance the existing biodiversity

•increase awareness and understanding of the local natural resource

promote responsible access to countryside sites.
