In
April 2006 some members of the community, with the help of the Hengistbury
Head countryside officers, called a meeting to discuss the setting
up of a group in ‘support’ of the nature reserve. On the
agenda were, environmental projects, talks, practical tasks and
other events related to the headland and surrounding area. A constitution
was drawn up, a committee elected and the Hengistbury Head Supporters
Group was formed.
In the past 18 months, we have been busy promoting membership and encouraging everyone who cares about the Head to be involved in its future. To join us, all you have to do is complete the membership form which you can download here and return it with a cheque or cash (if returning in person) of only £3 per individual / family membership! Membership runs from June to May of each year after the AGM. Once you have joined we will keep you informed either by email or by newsletter of events and activities to which you will be most welcome. We are particularly keen to have a full age range of members, so whether you have very young children or you are not in the first flush of youth you will be equally welcome! We
